Computers 4 Kids has given me a chance to interact with the community. I am a college student and do this job as federal work study. I have helped teach digital literacy classes and repair computers since 2017.
I love those moments when some our students are getting more familiar with different computer apps, and seeing how happy it makes them to know that they are learning how to use a computer. What I love about my job is the collaborative environment.

Computers 4 Kids caters to the two things that I am most I’m passionate about: youth and technology. The reaction on a child’s face when they receive their free computer is priceless. It’s important in today’s climate to have access to and be educated in the use of current technology. I appreciate organizations like Computers 4 Kids because they work diligently to provide access to technology that many families in the community just don’t have.
I’ve been using computers since I was about five years old. As a teenager, I stared to feel like it was time for me to expand my knowledge and find a way to enter the computer technology field.
I started attending classes at Sacramento City College in the Fall 2017 semester. I have been taking classes to work toward graduating with an AS in Computer Information Science Security. I am also working towards getting my CompTIA Certificate as well as the CCNA and Microsoft Azura certificates. I became an intern at Computers 4 Kids through a program called Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). I signed up for the program when I was still in high school. WIOA is designed to help you find employment, education, training, and support services that will help you succeed in the labor market. They also match employers with the workers that match the skill set they need.
I was given the option of working at Computers 4 Kids as an intern. I was told that I would be helping the community while expanding my computer knowledge. Thank you, River City High School, for inviting us to be part of your College, Careers, Health & Wellness Fair! We are excited to continue serving the students and the West Sacramento Community. #computers4kids #wusd #lrccd #scc #technology #nonprofit #westsacramento |
