Our Mission

The Computers4Kids program mission is to improve the educational outcomes of low income students attending Washington Unified School District by placing computers in the homes of 4th-8th graders. Each computer will be, minimally, a Pentium III or better and have a floppy drive for transferring files between home and school. All computers will be loaded with an operating system, and compatible applications for word processing, spreadsheets tasks, complementary virus protection, and be adequate for Internet connectivity.

Immediate Program Goals:

  • Provide qualified students with computers equipped with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Each computer will have a floppy drive for transferring files between home and school.
  • Each computer will be loaded with an operating system, complementary virus protection and be adequate for Internet connectivity.
  • Program targets low income students participating in the USDA school lunch program.
  • Donate a computer to every qualified 4th – 8th grade student within the Washington Unified School District.
  • Provide high school and college students the opportunity to build computer skills.
  • Provide internship opportunities for local college students with technical skills.
